At the heart of our purpose lies the aspiration to awaken and nurture the yogi within you.
In our journey, we hold deep reverence and devotion to our teachers, mentors, students and Guru, recognizing the profound significance of Yoga’s sacred art. Every day, we embrace this transformative practices with humility, commitment and joy, fostering freedom in the body and mind, strong health and spiritual connection.
Cosmic’s founder, Catarina, taught Mysore-style Ashtanga Yoga in Sydney for 14 years before the calling to create a space for Yoga. Her vision is to pass on these teachings traditionally, drawing inspiration from her experiences, time in India, and the wisdom imparted by her teachers and Guru in a way that allows anyone to practice and embrace Yoga for life.
Catarina started practicing Yoga at the age 18, she was introduced to the practices of breathwork, pranayama and meditation by Clive Sheridan before delving into Ashtanga Yoga. For over a decade, Catarina has had the privilege of learning and assisting Eileen Hall, contributing to one of the largest Mysore programs in the world at that time. Since 2012, she regularly makes trips to India to practice with her teacher Sharath Jois.
Recognizing the importance of combining breathwork, pranayama, and meditation with Asana (physical postures) right from the beginning, Catarina seamlessly integrates this approach into her teaching of the Ashtanga Yoga method for a safe, efficient, and joyful path in yoga and life.
In addition to teaching Yoga and studying Ayurveda, Catarina loves surfing, travels to India and being a mother to her young daughter Venus.

Mysore practice offers a distinctive approach to learning Yoga. It’s a method designed to assist you in establishing a consistent, personalized yoga routine, gradually learning a sequence of poses. Your practice duration varies; as a beginner or when recovering from an injury, it might be around 30 minutes, gradually extending to 1.5-2 hours with experience. The flexible time window for Mysore sessions accommodates your practice and aligns with your daily schedule. Feel free to arrive at the time that suits you best within that window – although catching the opening chant at the session’s start is always a delightful experience!
Absolutely and indeed. Real yoga will always meet you wherever you are. Yoga practice will gradually give you better flexibility and all the other benefits it promises. At our school, we primarily teach people individually in a group scenario called Mysore practice. So, please come, and don’t worry about what you can’t do. We are here to take you by the hand and walk the yoga way with you fully.
Proper vinyasa is paced by your own breath, offering a soothing, calm flow and not a rough, breath-puffing “power yoga” experience. Yes, Ashtanga Yoga is indeed for everyone, excluding the lazy folk. The individualized approach to learning provides practitioners with the time to grasp postures, comprehend and practice proper vinyasa. It is a day-to-day exploration, akin to a journey, where postures and breath intertwine to delve into your own inner landscape. It truly welcomes everyone. Come!
Initially, aim for at least 2 times per week, gradually progressing to an optimal frequency of 5-6 times per week.
Mostly, you will be practicing and guided through what you have learned so far in terms of postures and Yoga routines. However, we know that yoga practice it’s a day-to-day exploration. Some days, you may feel 100%, going through everything and a bit more. Other times, you might arrive feeling low or tired, just needing to sit and meditate on your breath. We welcome the yogi within you, acknowledging that life is a constant movement of flux and changes. You roll out your mat, and whatever happens after will be a bonus. 🙂
Certainly! I love to say that if you are breathing, you can practice yoga. Practicing yoga requires only consistency. At Cosmic, we have a wonderful group of students who started the practice after their 70s. You will be surprised by what consistent breathing practice can achieve. It will make you more flexible, alert, mobile, younger-looking, and energetic. Be aware that the practice will get you hooked on yoga;)
This is an individualized approach to Yoga. Mysore style is a multilevel class where advanced practitioners and total beginners find their space to learn and grow. Each student receives individual instructions from the teacher.
Mysore style Ashtanga is a powerful and efficient method for developing a personal and constant Yoga practice. Because it is dynamic and with a strong emphasis on breathing, this practice produces an internal heat capable of purifying the physical body, leaving it stronger and healthier and also promoting greater clarity and balance for the mind.
Attending a beginner course is recommended to engage with this method of Yoga.
On the first day of class, you’ll learn Sun Salutations, to stretch and strengthen the whole body and invigorate the breath, a few standing postures to strengthen and stabilize the legs, back, and waist, and meditative postures to calm the nervous system, focus the mind, and steady the breath. You can expect your first class to last about 30- 45 minutes.
In your second class, you’ll repeat what you learned on day one, and then depending on your own body condition and needs, learn the next few postures. If you have a lot of yoga experience, you may learn several of the next postures. If you are brand new to yoga or have done some in the past but haven’t exercised in a few years, are recovering from an illness or accident, you will go more slowly and may learn some therapeutic poses to add into your routine.
This is an individualized approach to yoga. You will not do everything in one go, but learn to be proficient, to a certain degree, in each posture before moving on to the next.
If you prefer to do more all at once, then you will want to try general class on Tuesdays.
